Plöntutíð is a platform for theater and performance makers who seek to create work free from human-centered storytelling traditions. The aim of the festival is to support the innovation and development of artistic ideas that use eco-dramaturgy as a starting point.

Plöntutíð was held for the first time from September 4th to 6th, 2020, in Reykjavik, and for the second time from September 3rd to 5th, 2021, in the greater Reykjavik area. The festival had its third run in 2022 in Iceland, featuring events that pop up in correlation with the seasons, and in Finland in August as Kasviaika.

Plöntutíð received a Gríman, Icelandic theater award nomination for Incentive of the Year in 2022.
